Photoshop World Westcott Shootout
20/09/11 07:03
As part of the recent Photoshop World in Las Vegas, the F. J. Westcott Company set up their Westcott Photo Shootout. Their booth — four different setups each day — was of course, packed, and of course I joined in.
Each day during the three day Photoshop World, Westcott provided models at each lighting setup. Most important for me, leading studio photographers explained and help posed the models.
Despite packs of 25 or more photographers jammed around the model, with a little patience and courtesy, everyone was able to get good images. I just wanted a few faces for my iOS photo of day project.
I am posting my images in my flickr Sep./Oct. iOS photo of the day.
Also on Flickr is the Westcott PSW Fall 2011 group were photographers are posting images. Same models, same lighting led to very creative results. Of course, Westcott has a photo contest, with a Sep. 23, deadline. (I am disqualified because of day job ethics thing.)
A great way to view the Westcott PSW Fall 2011 group is in slideshow mode.
For the image above, I used DynaLight HD, Touch Retourch, Photogene, LensFlare and 100 Cameras in 1. I have posted seven images and plan to do about three more.
Enjoy.

I'm Back

Well I''m back home from Vegas. On the drive home
Sunday, I stopped for a couple hours at Calico Ghost
Town. Tonight I had a soccer match. Also went and
dropped off six rolls of 35mm film from Vegas. That
Oktomat camera got a workout. Needless to say, lots
of pics to come.
On Saturday morning I finally got a pic of Scott Kelby. One of these years I need to get a pic of Scott and Scott.
So, now a lot of notes and new ideas to explore.

Wednesday was the dirve to Las Vegas for Photoshop
World. The convention starts tomorrow, so tonight I
headed down to check out the Fremont Street
Experience. Some 250 frames later I called it quit.
Most of my images are of the lights, but I stopped,
listened and purchased a cd from Carl "Safe Sax"
Ferris who was performing. I also met Eddie, who
wouldn't give me his last name - dressed to the hilt
to enjoy Vegas. I did meet a couple of Photoshop
World attendees, but more on the conference tomorrow.
Here are my pics of Carl Ferris and Eddie. I will
post the neon lights images on another day.

Photoshop World Boston
29/03/09 20:40
Photoshop World Boston occurred last week. While reports confirm it was a success, there hasn't been much press on the event. Attendance was about 3,000. Here is one photo gallery.
The biggest news article looks like Macworld's article "What Photoshop World can teach other trade shows." Of course, they were using Photoshop World as an example of how future Macworld Expos would be a success now that Apple has pulled out.
Wrong. The National Association of Photoshop Professionals is a strong and large organization, but if Adobe pulled out, Photoshop World would be a much smaller event.
With Apple gone, future Macworld Expos are going to be much smaller events. Period.
NAPP's one opps leading up to Photoshop World, was getting their event logo posted on Photoshop Disasters web site. The XVII logo did not extend to edge of image. Also the thumb seems to be melting. Great way to get publicity for Photoshop World. The comments are great.
