All Eyes on Jack

Tuesday 2/23 is free Grilled Sandwich day at Jack in the Box - buy a large drink, get a free sandwich. Jack' web site. Me, I couldn't wait. I drove through my Jack in the Box in downtown Los Angeles and bought a grilled sandwich. My bonus is this photo of Jack. Someone found a creative use for two pieces of chewing gum on a exterior poster. Better than underneath the desk. And yes, the Grilled Sandwich is good.

Jack's Back in his Box

JackX
Every year Jack shows up in my tree in his special spot.

But now that the holidays are over and Jack is back in his box.

Come next Thanksgiving, Jack will pop out and return to his spot.

But until then I visit Jack at his box.

Did you know he serves breakfast Jacks all around the clock!

Happy New Years!

Cool Jack!

JackX
I picked up my new Jack antenna ball, but unfortunately for Jack, he looks like a tennis ball. Woody, background right in photo, is waiting for me to throw Jack so he can fetch. On this day Jack did not go flying, but a chewed up tennis ball did.

The new Jack-In-The-Box tennis, oops, I mean antenna ball, is part of a fund raising effort by Jack-In-The-Box to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Seventy cents of each one dollar plus tax limited edition ball sold goes to the youth mentoring organization. Last year's antenna ball campaign raised about $360,000.

From the press release: "The limited-edition antenna ball features a classic Jack-style noggin sporting a backwards baseball cap and red wrap shades, and blowing a gum bubble. The antenna ball is available for just $1, plus tax, at all participating Jack in the Box restaurants, while supplies last....."

Jack at Camarillo Airshow

Jack-EditX
Jack and I visited the Wings over Camarillo airshow today. In the background is a C-53, a military version of the DC-3. I shot some 600 frames today, so its going to take a few days to process the images. I also have some complicated photoshop techniques I want to try. Enjoy.

Modesto Jack

Guess what! Right across the street from the Lucas Plaza Statue in Modesto is a Jack In The Box. Jack had to come over and see what I was shooting.

Jack Returns to Jack In The Box

Monday's episode of Hang in their Jack. had Jack coming out of his coma. The plot line had Phil taking over, changing the company name to Phil In The Box. But that move woke Jack up very quickly.

Actually Phil In The Box is kind of catchy, after 40 years of Jack In The Box, it was getting old. But I suspect Phil would ruin the menu and restrict breakfast hours to 6 am - 11 am.

Here are two more used antenna balls from my small collection.

Jack has continued to look around at other professions. He recently tried baseball, but left batted and bruised - players thought he was the baseball.

Jack Sighting

JackLACityHallx
Over the weekend, Jack was spotted outside of Los Angeles City Hall. There is an election Tuesday for mayor. Vote for Jack!

Since Jack may not be wanted by Jack in the Box, I thought a fun photo project would be explore employment options for Jack. I have a small collection of old Jack antenna balls, so during the next couple weeks expect additional Jack Signtings.

You Don't Know Jack

(Disclosure: I have known Jack for over 40 years- ever since I got my first driver's license.)

Four weeks ago, on Super Bowl Sunday, Jack Box, CEO of Jack in the Box, was hit by a bus. This occurred during a Jack in the Box commercial and was the kick-off of an on-going viral campaign by the restaurant chain.

The plot line has Jack currently in a coma. Of course friends, family and the company ask that "In lieu of flowers, please order anything on the menu, anytime of day."

"Phil" who claims to be the #2 person at Jack in the Box, is trying to take over. "Barbara" Jack's personal assistant is trying to keep stop Phil. The soap opera can be found at www.hangintherejack.com.

But I bet you didn't know Jack' s history with the company.

jack-in-the-boxX
Jack at a Downey, California, restaurant in 1979, before being blown up.

This is the second time the company has tried to kill Jack. In 1980, Jack was blown up on national TV as part of a make-over of the restaurant chain.

Then in 1995, Jack, repaired and fully recovered, got his revenge by blowing up the board of directors.

So here we are 29 years later with the company again trying to get rid of Jack. Wouldn't it just be easier to give him a buyout package and say:

Hit the road Jack, and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more!
Hit the road Jack, and don't you come back no more.

More to come.
