Another Quick Look - PhotoTropedelic

PhotoTropedelic is a fun, 60s pop art on an iPhone. After playing with the app back in February, I moved on.

Recently, I took another look. After turning off several pop art settings, I ran several images through PhotoTropedelic. The results, which I like, were added to this flickr set. These airplane, guitar, and peacock photos are examples of the poster effect — without the balloons, stars, etc.

In the settings, I turned off stars, circles, rays, gradient, merge known colors, mirror left to right and enabled Image Colors.

Of course, an upgrade of PhotoTropedelic is out. Version 2.0 features a new workflow, iPad support, pdf email, line width control, border reduction option, review previous work, and upload to facebook. The upgrade is free for previous owners.

Check out PhotoTropedelic web site.

In this flickr set, I have posted versions with the pop art settings on, and off.

Three Thousand Flags

0910Pepperdine911x
Twice this week I stopped at Pepperdine University to walk around the field of flags. Three thousand flags, one for each victim of the 911 attacks were on display this week. A mix of foreign flags are included, one for each foreign national killed.

Wright Brothers Flyer

A week ago I was able to visit the AIAA Wright Flyer Project at Frabob Airport in Riverside, California. This replica of the original Wright Brothers 1903 aircraft is expected to begin test flights in 2011. The project was started in 1978.

So included in my latest flickr set, Frabob Airport, are some images of this almost completed project.

Two 911 memorials

In June, I visited the 911 memorial in Winslow, Arizona, above. Two pieces of wreckage from the World Trade Center are located at the East end of the town.

Last week, I took the image below in Barstow, California of a fireman's helmet with the number of New York City firemen killed on 911.

The Los Angeles Times has posted this gallery of images.

Another Shoe Tree Down

08310ShoeBush1x
During my June vacation around nine Western states, I was bummed by the loss of the shoe tree near Juntura, Oregon. But not all was lost, Roadside America reported another sneaker decorated tree near Amboy, California, on the old Route 66.

But of course, the tree fell down back in March. But the shoes were still there! Now it's a shoe bush.

Well, last week I attended Photoshop World in Las Vegas. On the way over, I cruised a part of California's Route 66. Took an entire day to go from Barstow to Vegas.

Here is my Route 66 California flickr set.
