Yellow Snow

062711YellowSnow
Yes, "Yellow Snow" is an unusual headline, but hey, its true. For a recent iOS pic of the day, I turned nice white snow yellow.

I started with a 1996 photo of sky lifts in Big Bear. As with many recent images, I started with DynaLight HD to lighten shadows. Then in Photogene I used Vivid 2 preset. Then in PhotoCopier, I found Outerbridge setting reduced the Magenta and added yellow. So next step was in PictureShow using its vivid setting. In ArtistaOil I used the first preset and border 3. For this image, I did not want the blur effect in ArtistaOil, so back into Photogene to sharpen the image.

B-17 week

On Monday a B-17, nicknamed the Liberty Belle, was destroyed by fire after an emergency landing. The Los Angeles Times posted this Liberty Belle photo gallery.

For the LA Times From the Archive Blog, I posted this 1943 photo of the Memphis Belle B-17.

Finally, I pulled out my favorite B-17 image and added it to my iOS pic of the day project. I shot this image of the Virgin's Delight at Castle Air Museum in 2007. Right after I entered the museum, the clouds parted and this image of the B-17, framed by fall leaves, was there to shoot.

For this version I used DynaLight HD, ArtistaOil and some sharpening in Lightroom. ArtistaOil adds blur, which is great for some images, but for this one it needed to be sharper.

Film Look

061111LAPDConstX

The original photo is from the 2007 construction of Los Angeles Police Department headquarters building in downtown Los Angeles.

To get the chrome look, I started with DynaLight HD and its dutch light FX. Then two versions made. First was in PictureShow with Monet setting. The second was in ArtistaOil using Oil Abstract 03.

The two versions were combined with Blender with hard light blend mode.

Final film effects added in PictureShow using color shake, 135 reversal film frame and light leak 1.
