DynaLight HD

In typing up my how-to captions for my iOS Photo of the Day project, I've noticed one app getting a lot of use - DynaLight HD. So time for a quick review.
In working on my images, I've found a lighter mid tones and shadows leads to better results with in later steps. Detail is brought out. To quickly pop an image, DynaLight HD has turned our to be the quickest app to use. Basically it's a single frame HDR app with a good collection of special effects. The most popular FX is Mysterious Light.
Controls are simple — two sliders controling strength and radius. The extras are the FX presents, before/after side by side comparison and Color Mixing Light Ball.
In one minute I ran this 2009 skeleton photo through DynaLight HD. I loaded image, adjusted radius and strength, added Mysterious Light and moved the Color Mixing Light Ball to the lower right. Final version is above, original below.
Well worth the 99c price.

Winslow 911 Memorial
16/07/11 11:09 Filed in: iPhone iPad

With the 10th anniversary of 911 coming up soon, for this image I used started with a photo from last summer of the 911 Memorial in Winslow Arizona. The two beams are from the World Trade Center in New York.
I started with ToonPaint and made a grayscale base image. In ArtistaOil I then used Realism 01 to give a painting look. As with many ArtistaOil images, I like to sharpen right afterwards. So I went into Iris Photo Suite and sharpened.
Iris Photo Suite has a good collection of special effects presets and overlays, so for this image I used old book 2, splatter at 35% and vintage stains border at 50%.

Angels Flight

After being closed for three weeks for safety reasons, Angel's Flight reopened yesterday. So this morning I had to do a pic of the day on Angels' Flight.
I started with a 2010 photo of the short railroad. In Camera+ used clarity, then fashion FX, followed with a light grit border. The 2nd app was PicGrunger. I used the Aged setting at 80%.
I just started my iPhone/iPad photo of the day July/August Flickr set. It only has four images so far. Wait, today is the 6th. Yes, that means I am a couple days behind. Oh well. enjoy.
Here is my recently finished May/June 2011flickr set.
