March 13, 2016: Decorative walls of Dunsmore Park in Glendale.
The location started out as a tuberculosis sanitarium. A later owner, Milton Hofert - an avid rock and junk collector - built decorative walls all over the property. Most of the walls are built with colorful stones collected from all over the Western United States. In addition, Hofert embedded into the walls all sorts of everyday items, from scissors, tools, plaques, etc. While vandals over the years have removed many items, there are still plenty for visitors to see. In 1957, Hofert sold the the property to the City of Glendale. It became into a public park. Hobert then moved to Big Bear. In 2001, Hofert, age 100, passed away. I posted 45 photos in this flickr album: 2016 Walls of Dunsmore Park.
