Jan. 21, 2021: Infrared image of the 1892 Strathearn House, the centerpiece of the Strathearn Historical Park and Museum in Simi Valley. After Robert P. and Mary Gray Lamb Strathearn purchased the 15,000 acre Spanish Rancho, they added the Victorian farmhouse onto the original Simi Abobe's front. This photo was taken with iPhone through a 720nm filter with a 24-second exposure at ISO 2.
Jan. 21, 2021: Infrared image of St. Rose of Lima Church located at the Strathearn Historical Park and Museum in Simi Valley, California. Built as a Presbyterian Church in 1902, the original tiny congregation gave up the building in 1908. By 1910, the church reopened as St. Rose of Lima Catholic church. The museum obtained and relocated the structure in 2002, and the restoration was completed in 2007. The photo was taken with iPhone through a 720nm filter with a four-second exposure at ISO 6.
![]() Jan. 19, 2014: Late afternoon sunlight lights up a Northrop T-38 Talon supersonic trainer on display at the California Science Center in Los Angeles. The U.S. Air Force obtained over 1,000 of the jets between 1961 and 1972. This Talon is on loan to the California Science Center from the U.S. Air Force Museum. The California Science Center is currently closed because of COVID-19. Jan. 8, 2021: Photo I've titled "Cactus Family Portrait." This morning I was at the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden using a Lensbaby Sweet 50 lens and noticed someone added leaves to a couple of cactus.
Jan. 3, 2021: "The Queen's Gambit," exhibit at Union Station in Los Angeles, features a large chessboard suspended above a sculpture of the fictional main character Beth Harmon. During the mini-series, Harmon often visualizes a chessboard on the ceiling of her room. Netflix erected the art installation in mid-Decamber to promote its popular mini-series. Record sales of chess sets occurred after the popular show appeared on Netflix. The art exhibit is opening for viewing - masks and strict social distancing is required—this exhibit's scheduled to close on Jan. 11. Below is a version of exhibit photographed through a glass ball.
